Carol U. The colors were very close to the sample. After a very long search, we are delighted to have this rug in our dining room!! The company is very easy to work with. Highly recommended!!!!!
Ken S. Our whole experience with Rugknots was excellent. The rug is perfect as described and photographed. George was was a huge help before we purchased. They seem to genuinely care about you as the customer at Rugknots. We'll buy there again!
Elaine B. Ordered a second rug after I got the first one as I liked it so much. The price is great, the rug is a good quality rug that looks like it cost a lot more. Good customer service also from the owners.

Why Jute Rugs Are A Great Choice

Jute rugs have a really contemporary look, and as they’re great value, they’ve found their way into many homes over the last few years. But what exactly is jute?

Jute is actually a type of grass which is mostly found in Asia. It’s a tough and durable grass, so its fibers a strong and easy to weave. Many people choose it because it’s so hardwearing, and also because it adds natural beauty to a room. It’s often left in its undyed, beige-colored form for this reason; however it takes color really well, so our Jute Collection is available in a range of vivid shades.

Its natural texture can be a little rough, so our rugs are blended with cotton fibers for a touch of softness. Easy to vacuum, it’s a great choice if you want a robust rug (although it’s best kept out of humid rooms such as bathrooms, as the natural grass will hang on to moisture).

If you want a look that’s cool, casual, and contemporary, a jute rug is a great choice. Tough around kids and pets, but still with a calmly natural appearance, these are a great choice for a busy family home. They’re often associated with coastal style; however they can be mixed and matched with all sorts of looks.

Here’s a bit more detail about our Jute Collection.

About Our Jute Rugs

Our jute range of area rugs comprises the beautiful Bengal Collection, made in India using the hand-tufting method.

Unlike many jute rugs, we haven’t gone with the natural look for the Bengal Collection, but rather have embraced the grass’s ability to soak up color. Choose between blue, charcoal, gray, and red colored jute rugs. Because jute is an inexpensive material, go for it, and have a selection of these great value area rugs scattered around your home!

The largest jute rug in the Bengal Collection is the 8’ x 10’ rug, which is a great way of covering a large area of floor. We think that large jute rugs look great layered with other rugs, forming the base under a smaller, patterned wool rug in a contrasting shade. The next size down, the 5’ x 8’, would give the same contemporary effect in a smaller space.

It’s sometimes said that jute’s no good in a bedroom because it’s not as soft as wool or artificial fibers. Our jute rugs are mixed with cotton to soften them; and again, try a layering effect in the bedroom for extra warmth. Stand your bed on one of the 8’ x 10’ rugs, or have a 3’ x 5’ to either side of the bed in a more modest room, with a petite 2’ x 3’ softer rug on top for added coziness.

The 2’ x 8’ jute runner is a popular choice for hallways, narrow landings, and corridors. It adds color and texture to these often overlooked spaces, and because it’s durable, it’s perfect for the high footfall in these rooms. Go for the vivid red to brighten up your hallway, or the cool gray to keep that light coastal feel that jute’s famous for.

Finally, we have the little 2’ x 3’ jute rug. This neat rug is an attractive way to cover the floor of tricky small spaces, such as a walk-in closet. Just bear in mind that jute rugs don’t work in humid rooms, so although they’d look great, they’re not the ideal choice for bathroom floors. However, as a modern-style rug for a dressing room or a small corner, this is perfect.
