I went looking for a large wool area rug with a pattern for my den. This rug did not disappoint, and the pattern can be used with modern or traditional decor. Most of the colours are muted, but the gold stands out to my eye. Regardless, the predominant colour I see in my rug is gold. There is a medium slate grey in the centre and around the border, and the background of the remainder of the rug is fully designed with gold colour. It looks great with all the leather and wood furniture I have, but the one upholstered piece in that room clashes with the rug, so it has to go. I too received my first rug and found that it had a musty smell that did not go away. The return process worked well, and the replacement rug had a minor new rug smell that went away within a couple of days. Each of these rugs was virtually identical in colour. I've had my new rug for about a month, and it still sheds, but less so each time I vacuum it. This one has a bit higher pile than my previous rug; that feels comfortable underfoot. But heavy furniture placed upon it will crush it over time. I tend to move my heavy chairs a bit each time I vacuum to reduce the likelihood of that occurring.
